Apatite Green
The name Apatite comes from the Greek apatao (to deceive), because the mineral was often confused with other similar minerals.
Apatite is a multicolored mineral commonly found in metamorphic and igneous rocks. Apatite comes in three types: Hydroxylapatite, Fluorapatite and Chlorapatite. Chlorapatite is incredibly rare. Hydroxylapatite is common. It is an important biomaterial and, by weight, is approximately 70% of human bones and tooth enamel. Fluorapatite is the most common and most colorful of the three. From blue, green and yellow to purple, red, pink and even white or brown. Essentially, 99.9% of all Apatite sold is the fluorine variety.
