Agate

Agate is a variant of chalcedony, specifically a distinctly layered fibrous chalcedony. Originally named after the Dirillo River (Achates River), Acate, Ragusa Province, Sicily, Italy.

The layering in agate is based on periodic changes in the translucency of the agate substance. Layers appear darker when they are more translucent (this may appear reversed in transmitted light). In old agates exposed to weathering and chemical changes, the differences in translucency may disappear, such specimens may become almost opaque.

Agate is a stone that radiates protection and security. Above all, it protects new beginnings. During pregnancy, but also when we have ideas that we would like to realize. It helps us search for inner peace, stability, self-control, calmness. Agate helps us solve our problems by allowing us to step back for a moment so that we can look more objectively. It makes us decisive and goal-oriented. Agate is also often used to protect the home. For example, you can place a beautiful agate disk at the entrance.
